The Words & Concepts Series integrates language and concept training in a unique way. Each program uses a core vocabulary of 40 nouns in six related language units.

Most of the activities have three levels of difficulty. The computer can be set to work on one level or branch among the levels, following the progress of the individual.

These programs will help both children and adults with language impairments build vocabulary, strengthen their language comprehension, discover word relationships, and develop important concepts.

This program uses 40 early developing nouns to build vocabulary, categoriaztion, word functions, word association, and the conceps of same and different.

This program uses the same activities but 40 new nouns to enrich vocabulary, strengthen language comprehension, and encourage concept development.

Activities

Three different pictures appear on the screen and the user is asked to choose one by name. ("Find the hat.").

Categorization
Individuals work with 20 nouns in four categories. They determine which nouns belong in a particular category ­(inclusion) and which ones don’t (exclusion).

Word Identification by Function
Users learn to identify 20 nouns based on their function. Sample question: “Find the one you wear on your feet.”

In this activity, individuals determine which noun “goes with” a given noun.

Concept - Same/Alike
The user compares three pictures and selects the ones that are alike.
